Exercise CW36: Opponent-Beating Passing in Two Squares
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetProgression, Main point
Number of Players10-15 players
Setup
Use 8 cones to build a small square inside a large square. One player positions at each cone. Two players stand at each outer cone. The players at the starting cone need a ball.
Procedure
Three players always execute the same opponent-beating passing pattern. The four players in the inner (small) square switch positions vertically after the one-two. A plays a one-two with D. Player C passively defends and then runs back to the starting point, where he becomes the passer against a passive defender in the opposite direction. A dribbles to cone C and takes over that position and tasks.
Tip
- This passing and dribbling game is very running-intensive. - Do not place the standing foot too far from the ball, and make sure players do not lean backward. - Pass timing and start timing are crucial. - Players often run faster than they pass. - Demand pass sharpness and accuracy. - Ball reception and carrying should be one touch. - Keep dribbling tempo high. - Clean ball exchange to the waiting player's passing foot. - 8 cones
