Place cones every 20 m as distance markers on the field (see diagram). Players line up at the starting cones on the goal line in front of the stations.
Procedure
Groups of 4-6 players form a running group. The players complete progressive sprints over increasing distances at top speed. First, they sprint to the first cone (20 m), sprint back to the starting cone, then sprint to cone 2 (40 m), and so on. After completing the first set with the 100 m sprint, they run the 100 m again and then decreasing distances: 80 m, 60 m, 40 m, and 20 m. Multiple sets can be completed.
Tip
- Palms are open — do not make fists. - Light, easy footwork — no stomping or pounding: light-footedness. - The arms, bent at the body, swing in opposition to the legs. - 12 cones
