Exercise of the Week 12: One-Two with Sprint Competition and Shot on Goal
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players6 - 9 players
Setup
Set up a goal, two passing cones, two starting cones, and two poles as shown in the diagram. Players form two groups (A+B). One player from each group goes to the starting cones III+IV; the others line up at the passing cones I+II. The balls are at the two passing cones and with the coach.
Procedure
On the coach's command, the red players at the passing cones pass the ball to the blue players at the starting cones, who turn toward the passers on the coach's command and lay the ball off. They then immediately sprint around the pole and try to finish the coach's pass before the player from the other group.
Tip
- On the coach's command, the red player's pass and the blue player's turn happen immediately. - Precise pass to the blue player's strong foot. - Dynamic turn and explosive sprint around the pole and toward the ball. - The pole must be rounded tightly. - If a 1v1 duel for the ball occurs, the body must be used effectively (shoulder contact, shield the ball with the foot closest to the ball, position the body between the ball and the opponent). - Then accelerate again to break away from the opponent and take the shortest route to goal. - The ball can be shot on goal with the first touch or after a short first touch and carry. - Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; standing foot approx. 30-40 cm to the side of the ball, foot points in the direction of the shot; arms swing along; the arm closest to the shooting leg follows the leg's backswing, the other arm moves forward; the eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - 2 pole(s), 4 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
