Finish After Through-Ball Between the Legs with Back to Goal

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal, a cone A, and a cone B as shown. One player positions at cone B, the others with a ball at cone A.

Procedure

Player A passes the ball through the legs of player B, who is standing with his back to the goal. Player B quickly spins around his own axis and sprints at maximum speed to the ball and shoots on goal. Player A now takes player B's position and player B lines up at cone A.

Tip

- Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - Player B starts as soon as the ball has rolled through underneath him. - Different shooting techniques (inside-of-the-foot shot, instep shot, curling, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - The passing player must time his pass very well so that the finishing player can still reach the ball before the 16-metre line (for players over 16 years old) and shoot on goal. - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
