Footbonaut: Improving Technical Abilities and Vision

  • Age U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

• 4 mini-goals in a diamond-like shape, with two goals facing each other

• 4 cones (mark field within the diamond-like shape)

One player positions himself in the red square in the middle.

Every of the four goals has a specific name. These can be numbers or any other kind of given name that helps to differentiate the targets from one another.

The coach will play the balls in.

Procedure

The coach calls out a name and immediately plays a sharp, low-driven pass to the player in the center.

He then is allowed to have to touches, the second one needing to be his pass into a mini-goal.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• Coach should play the pass immediately after calling out the target/ goal

• Player in the center should orientate himself before the ball is played to scan the goals, angles, field, etc. (look over shoulder)

• Taking a good first touch towards the given target is crucial and simulates a similar situation in a game very well
