Goalkeeper: Playing out from the Back and Progression

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

• 1 big goal

• 1 goalkeeper (rotate, if there are more goalkeepers available)

• 3 dummies or cones

• 3 balls

The dummies or cones will be set up on the edge or just outside of the penalty box to simulate opposing attacking players.

Procedure

Three players will act as defenders (left, right and in the center).

These players slightly move in their positions.

The drill starts with one of the three defenders, who plays the ball back to the goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper has to quickly decide, to whom of the other two defenders he can play the ball to, to switch the point of play.

The player that receives the ball from the goalkeeper then finishes the drill off by shooting on target.

Tip

Variations:

Drill can be extended:

While one player shoots on goal, one of the other two players gets ready to do so as well.

Therefore, the goalkeeper additionally has to sort out, which of the three players does not have a ball.

He then passes the ball to the only open player.
