Header 1 vs. 1

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a cone square as shown in the diagram. Two players enter the field, a third player (thrower) stands outside the field with a ball.

Procedure

The thrower throws the ball high into the square, and the two players try to head the ball out of the square to score a point. Variation: Points can only be scored if the thrower can catch the header out of the air.

Tip

- Throw the balls so that a subsequent header is possible. - The throws are made with both hands and should vary in throw speed, trajectory, and direction. - The contact surface for the header is the forehead. - The power for the header comes from the arching of the upper body (hollow back position). - For a diving header or a header after jumping, the player pushes off with the balls of the feet. - In heading duels, ensure fair challenges (no use of elbows). - Demand body contact. - 4 cones
