Tip
- For a powerful two-footed takeoff, the knees are slightly bent. The arms are bent and go into the wind-up motion. The upper body is upright. Landing is on the balls of the feet. - In all jump variations, movement and takeoff are on the balls of the feet. Short ground contact with an explosive jump. - Headers are struck with the forehead. - For a straight header, the neck does not move sideways but from back to front. - For a side header, the head is turned up to 45 degrees from the straight position. - Momentum comes from an arched back (bow tension). - Watch the ball; during the header, the eyes are closed (this is a natural reflex and cannot be changed!). - Arms are bent, hands (usually fists) point upward and are used for generating momentum.
