Heading Duel 1 vs. 1 with Two Throwers + Goalkeeper

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

Two groups are formed. Set up a goal, two cones where a thrower positions himself at each, and two starting cones where the remaining players are divided. The balls are with the throwers.

Procedure

The red team starts: the red player runs toward the goal, chased by the blue player. The red thrower tries to throw the ball so that the red teammate can head it into the goal. The blue player tries to prevent this. Full contact is played. After each attack, the attacking team switches. The throwers rotate regularly. Variation: A player from the throwing team can be added, creating a 2 vs. 1 overload situation.

Tip

- It is crucial that the throws are executed precisely (with both hands). - Do not throw "rainbow" arcs; instead throw balls with a slightly linear rising trajectory. - Throw the ball with momentum, but not too hard. - The contact surface for the header is the forehead. - The power for the header comes from the arching of the upper body (hollow back position). - For a diving header or a header after jumping, the player pushes off with the balls of the feet. - In heading duels, ensure fair challenges (no use of elbows). - The defending player must try to get to the ball before the attacker or take up a position closer to the goal than the attacker to defend from there. - The goalkeeper may try to intercept the thrown balls. - 4 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
