Hurdle jump + throw

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

A hurdle is set up 3-4 metres in front of the goal line. The goalkeeper goes to the centre of the goal line, and the goalkeeper coach (GC) takes position 12 metres away as shown in the diagram.

Procedure

On the GC's command, the goalkeeper jumps over the approximately 1 m high hurdle. The start signal is either a body movement from the goalkeeper coach or dropping a ball. After clearing the hurdle, a half-high throw follows to the right or left corner. Intensity: 6 repetitions on each side.

Tip

- Tuck jumps: Through a powerful, two-footed takeoff, the knees/thighs are pulled to the chest. The arms are bent and go into the wind-up motion. The upper body is upright. Landing is on the balls of the feet. After a short ground contact time, the next jump follows immediately. - Landing is on the balls of the feet. The feet point toward the coach and are about hip-width apart; the upper body leans slightly forward and the eyes track the ball. The landing and takeoff flow seamlessly into one movement. - The body must always be brought behind the ball during the save. - During the save, the goalkeeper must never fall backward, always forward. - Lateral offset jumps (skier jump/movement): With a slightly forward-leaning upper body, the player jumps sideways forward alternating between the right and left leg (right leg to the front right, left leg to the front left). It is important that the takeoff and landing are on the balls of the feet. The arms swing supportively. When the plant foot lands, the other leg is bent (no ground contact). The gaze is directed forward. - 1 hurdle(s), 1 full-size goal(s)
