Indoor Training: Ball Control and Passing with Both Feet

  • Age U6 - U13
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

Pitch: Set up 5 long benches or vaulting boxes as boards as shown in the graphic, an indoor goal stands at the end.

Equipment: 5 long benches or vaulting boxes, 1 ball per player, 1 goal.

Players: The players go through the course one after the other, each with their own ball.

Procedure

  • The player starts with the ball and, after two touches, plays a ground pass with the inside of the left foot against the first board, then controls the ball.
  • Next the player plays against the following board with the right foot and controls the ball as well.
  • The sequence continues in this way up to the finish on goal.
  • To finish, the player first plays the ball low with the inside of the foot against the board and finishes the returning ball on goal with the laces over the board.
  • After that the player dribbles back around the outside to the starting position.

Note: Drill idea by Holger Enger.

Tip

  • Have the first touch and taking the ball in stride carried out with a maximum of three touches.
  • Have the players work consistently with both feet: right side with the left foot, left side with the right foot.
  • Once the ball control is secure, move the vaulting boxes further towards the touchline and change the angles. This lengthens the runs to the ball, and the players learn to be available for a pass again after playing the ball.
