Equipment: 12 cones, 2 balls per group of three.

Players: 3 players are assigned to each station and take up the positions A, B and C.

Procedure

  • Player A throws to Player B, who plays the ball straight back out of the air with the inside of the foot.
  • B then turns and runs to C.
  • C also throws onto the foot of B, who plays this ball back out of the air with the inside of the foot as well.
  • After 10 repetitions the positions are changed.

Progression:

  • Play the ball back with the weaker foot.
  • Play the ball back with a drop kick.
  • The player in the middle plays the ball back with the full instep.
  • The player in the middle heads the ball back.
  • The player in the middle controls the ball with the chest and passes back.
  • The player in the middle controls the ball with the thigh and passes back.

Note: Drill idea by Max Schönijahn. The format is suitable as an extension of the passing in groups of three.

Tip

  • Watch for the use of both feet in the passing.
  • Watch the preparatory movements of the players at the cones.
  • In the basic format always pass with the inside of the foot and pay attention to ball control.
