Lateral jumps + throw

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Set up a pole course as shown in the diagram. The goalkeeper stands on one side of the setup; the goalkeeper coach (GC) with balls is at the penalty spot.

Procedure

The goalkeeper jumps laterally over the poles on one leg. After the last pole, the GC throws a high ball at the goal so the goalkeeper must fully stretch to reach it. Intensity: 4-6 balls. Then switch legs.

Tip

- Single-leg jumps: Serve to develop push-off power (increasing maximum and explosive strength with limited push-off time), i.e., acceleration speed. The player jumps forward from the right ball of the foot and lands on the same foot on the ball. Short ground contact followed by an explosive sprint. The left foot steps forward. - Short ground contact time. - The body must always be brought behind the ball during the save. - Lateral offset jumps (skier jump/movement): With a slightly forward-leaning upper body, the player jumps sideways forward alternating between the right and left leg (right leg to the front right, left leg to the front left). It is important that the takeoff and landing are on the balls of the feet. The arms swing supportively. When the plant foot lands, the other leg is bent (no ground contact). The gaze is directed forward. - 5 pole(s), 1 full-size goal(s)
