Lateral Offset Jumps (Skier Jump/Movement)

Setup

One set lasts about 10 seconds. Any number of players. Two cones can mark the start and end, for example.

Procedure

The players jump laterally forward, alternating from the right to the left ball of the foot. When jumping forward-left, the left arm supports the jump impulse by swinging from bottom to top. The right arm does the same when jumping forward-right. The upper body is upright.

Tip

- Palms are open (makes a difference of 3/100 sec for a sprinter). - Run on the balls of the feet, not on the whole foot or the heels. - Quick, short, fluid movements. - Short ground contact time.
