15 players take their positions according to the diagram on the half field, and a goal is set up on the goal line and midfield line. The ball-possessing 8-player team positions two forwards, one player each on the right and left flanks, two midfielders in the right and left half positions, and behind them two centre backs, one of whom has the ball. The 7-player team positions the goalkeeper in goal, the field players in a 3-2-1 (Christmas tree system), starting with a back three on a line 20-25 m in front of their own goal, two midfielders, and one forward.
Procedure
The blue team with numerical advantage has the task of initiating the build-up play with a long ball. The forwards try to control it and lay it off to the advancing midfielders or extend it into the dangerous area. Build-up play is conducted exclusively through the centre backs. They may only open with long diagonal balls to the flanks or down-the-line balls to the forwards. They may not play short passes or back passes. The yellow-red defensive team tries to disrupt the build-up and shift compactly. After winning the ball, they may also score a goal. The 8-player team plays in a 2-4-2 formation. The offside rule applies.
Tip
- The goal is to bridge the midfield with a long pass and thus open up play. - The forwards should move, stand staggered (not on the same line), and the wide players should hold their positions. - Good, precise passing by the centre backs is just as important as the subsequent action by the attacking players. - 2 full-size goal(s)
