Long-Range Shooting

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

The goalkeeper is in the goal. One or more players stand about 20 m in front of the goal. The balls are with the players.

Procedure

The players take turns shooting at the goal. Three consecutive goals scored means 10 push-ups for the goalkeeper; 3 saves means 10 push-ups for the players.

Tip

- Just before the shooter makes contact with the ball, the goalkeeper makes a small two-footed hop or a short step forward, spreads his arms to the sides, slightly bends his knees, and stands on the balls of his feet. His feet point toward the shooter and are about hip-width apart, the upper body leans slightly forward, and the eyes are fixed on the ball. - The body must always be brought behind the ball during the save. - During the save, the goalkeeper must never fall backward, but always forward. - For a lateral dive, the goalkeeper jumps with a swing step to the side or forward. To the right by generating momentum through the right foot and pushing off laterally over the balls of the feet. To the left by generating momentum through the left foot. - The goalkeeper tries to hold onto the balls. If this is not possible, he should parry the balls to the side. - The shooting distance can vary between 8-20 metres depending on the age group. - 1 full-size goal(s)
