Main Part II Game Form III - 4 Defenders vs 7 Attackers on One Full-Size Goal and Three Small Cone Goals + Goalkeeper
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players10-15 players, 16-22+ players
Setup
Three cone goals are placed on the midfield line. Two teams are formed. An attacking team with seven players (yellow) and a defending team (blue) with four players, starting in the back four line formation (base formation). The yellow team lines up according to the diagram with a central playmaker, two players in the midfield half positions, two wingers, and two forwards. The yellow playmaker has the ball. A goalkeeper is in the goal.
Procedure
The yellow team's task is to finish with a shot on the full-size goal with goalkeeper through the use of different plays and attacking variations. The blue team must defend the full-size goal and has the option, when in possession (with a maximum of ten/five touches), to score on the three cone goals. When defending, it is important to shift correctly and not allow passing and shooting options. It is crucial that when the ball-near defender steps out, the two neighbors tuck in and form a defensive triangle. If the yellow team scores or the ball goes out of bounds, play restarts from the midfield line. Build-up should use zigzag passes. This means the forwards make decoy runs and offer themselves as passing options in the half spaces. As few touches as possible. On the flanks, 1v1 play and overlapping should occur whenever possible. To do this, the wide players must be positioned at the sideline and after receiving the ball, dribble inside so the fullback behind can overlap. Constantly play diagonal balls to initiate switches of play and get the defensive unit moving. The forwards constantly come to meet the ball carrier, check beforehand, and cross. 1 - Diagonal ball 2 - Zigzag ball 3 - 1v1 dribbling 4 - Checking 5 - Crossing 6 - Overlappingn
Tip
- Through passes into depth to the forwards, the defensive line is forced into forward movement. By switching the ball, the defensive line is forced to shift forward and to the side. This results in the attacking team gaining space in depth, as well as the opportunity to switch play diagonally to the open side. - The passers in the back should not push up too close to the players in front and should always maintain 20-25 metres distance from the forwards, so they permanently have the play in front of them and can 'run onto' balls to quickly relay them with one touch. - Important is constant movement, communication, and quick, precise passing. - The back four must not forget the depth staggering and not get pulled out too far. - 6 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
