One-Two at Four Stations

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

Pitch: 20 x 12 metres. Four cones form a diamond or a cross.

Equipment: 4 cones.

Players: Three players at each of the large cones, one player at each of the small cones.

Procedure

The blue player starts.

  1. Short pass to the stationary wall player.
  2. The wall player lays the ball back first time.
  3. As soon as the ball has left the wall player's foot, the passer moves towards it and passes first time straight on to the next cone.
  4. There the red team-mate plays a first-time one-two with the stationary wall player and then passes straight on to the blue team-mate again.

Variations:

  • The ball that has been laid back is taken on with one or two touches and only then passed on.
  • One-touch passing with two balls at the same time.

Tip

  • Start the drill slowly and with one ball.
  • The passing player runs towards the wall player.
  • Match the running speed to the speed of the pass — players usually run faster than they pass.
  • Demand firm and accurate passes; a lack of accuracy leads to interruptions.
  • Standing foot close to the ball, no leaning back.
  • When passing and when taking the ball in stride, lift the kicking foot slightly and swing it down through to the ball.
  • First touch and taking the ball in stride with the inside of the foot, leaning slightly over the ball — not with the laces or the outside of the foot.
  • The pass arrives half-diagonally on the correct foot of the player waiting for the ball.
