Opponent-Beating One-Two

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up multiple opposing cones as shown in the diagram. The players distribute evenly across the cones. The respective starting player has a ball.

Procedure

Player C begins with a diagonal pass into the run of player A. A plays a one-two with player B and dribbles to the opposite side. Player C tries to challenge the offensive passers A + B. Then C + D perform the same passing drill in the other direction.

Tip

The ball is dribbled at maximum speed. - The pass is played sharply into the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The player expecting the ball makes a short check-away run as soon as the passer begins the passing motion, then starts running toward the ball. - The ball reception and control should be one fluid movement. The ball bouncing too far away or a reception deviating from the straight running path should be avoided. - All ball-related drills should be practised with both the right and left foot. - 4 cones
