Pass + Ball Control + Dribbling + 2v2 Challenge

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Four small squares are set up so that together they form one large square. The players position themselves with balls as shown in the diagram at the top end between the cones.

Procedure

As soon as player B starts dribbling or passing to player D, players A + E sprint and try to win the ball. The team in possession tries to cross the opposite line. If A + E win the ball, they may try to dribble over the opposite sideline; B + D then become defenders. Afterward, the players line up on the opposite sides. Variations: - 2v1 - 3v2nn

Tip

- When the ball-carrying player starts dribbling or passing, that is the start signal for all other players. - Player B offers himself and tries to make overlapping runs. - Defensive challenge (winning the ball is the top priority! Do not just kick the ball away.) - Position the body so the opponent is pushed away from goal toward the outside. Close down the path to the end line. Stand sideways, offer one side; lure the opponent where you want him; then push the body in between to win the ball. - Stand on the balls of the feet, not on the whole foot. - Try to reduce the opponent's speed. (This buys time for the other defenders in a real game.) - Offensive challenge When possible, approach the opponent at maximum speed. At slower speeds, try to use a body feint. - 9 cones
