Passing/Ball Reception and Control/Dribbling/Feints with Shooting and Concluding One-Two on Two Goals

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up two goals facing each other as well as two starting and target cones (see diagram). The players distribute evenly with balls at the two starting cones. The goalkeepers go into the goals.

Procedure

Player A starts and dribbles toward the cone, performs a feint to the left at the first cone and a feint to the right at the second cone with a concluding shot on goal. Then he sprints toward player B and plays a one-two with him. B controls the ball and performs the same drill sequence as player A. A lines up at B's starting position.

Tip

- When dribbling, maintain tight ball control using the outside of the foot (ball no more than 50 cm from the foot). - Execute the feint approx. 2 metres from the orientation cone. Try to finish at or just behind the cone. - Demand various feints (stepover, pirouette, shot fake, jump feint, etc.) - Precise, sharp passing. - Make sure shooting is practised with both right and left foot. - Pay attention to proper body posture when shooting (upper body over the ball; standing leg approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side - standing leg offset next to the ball, foot pointing in the direction of the shot; arms swing with the movement; the arm nearest to the shooting leg follows the leg's windup motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot). - Different shooting techniques can be practised (possibly at the coach's direction): inside of the foot, laces, curling, etc. - As soon as the active player shoots, the next player starts dribbling. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
