Passing, Ball Reception/Control, Dribbling, Feints with 1v1 in Two Squares
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetProgression, Main point
Number of Players10-15 players
Setup
Using 8 cones, a small square is set up inside a larger square. A player positions at each cone. Two players position at each outer cone. The players at the starting cone need a ball.
Procedure
The four players marked with different colours start simultaneously on the designated passing and running paths. Each player plays a one-two with the player opposite and then tries, after controlling the ball in his rectangle, to dribble to the other side and beat the opponent. Constant rotation. After the offensive action, the attacker becomes the defender and the defender takes on the attacker's tasks. Variations: 2v1 2v2n
Tip
- This passing and dribbling drill is very running-intensive. - Pass timing and start timing are crucial. - Often the players run faster than they pass. - Demand sharpness and accuracy in passing. - Ball reception and control should be one touch. - Keep the dribbling tempo high. - Defensive challenge (winning the ball is the top priority! Do not just kick the ball away.) - Position the body so the opponent is pushed away from goal toward the outside. Close down the path to the end line. Stand sideways, offer one side; lure the opponent where you want him; then push the body in between to win the ball. - Stand on the balls of the feet, not on the whole foot. - Try to reduce the opponent's speed. (This buys time for the other defenders in a real game.) - Offensive challenge When possible, approach the opponent at maximum speed. At slower speeds, try to use a body feint. - 8 cones
