Passing Drill: Passing Center with Quick Passing Sequence

  • Age U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

  • cones to set up an outer square
  • 4 poles to create an inner square
  • Position 2 players in the center and at least 2 players on the outside at the cones
  • 2 players at 2 diagonally opposite outer cones have a ball

Procedure

  • The central players make runs out of the center to offer themselves to an outer player. The outer player passes to a central player, follows the pass into the center, and takes the central position. The central player who received the pass then passes counter-clockwise to the next outer player and takes their place. The passing sequence continues: Outside - Center - Outside.

Variation

  • Practice in a clockwise direction.
  • Alternate passing sequence diagonally, laterally: The central player turns and passes to the opposite side, then continues as normal.

Tip

Coaching Points 

  • Demand communication.
  • Use a starting movement to create space.
  • Process and pass the ball quickly.
  • Approach the ball (move off before receiving).
