  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

Pitch: The players line up in a large circle, their positions are marked with flat markers. Players standing opposite each other are at least 20 metres apart.

Equipment: 1 flat marker per player, 1 ball, from 10 players 2 balls.

Players: All players stand at their flat marker in the circle, one starts with the ball.

Procedure

  • The player with the ball runs towards the centre.
  • This player calls the name of a free player and passes the ball to that player.
  • The receiver takes the ball in their stride towards the centre.
  • The receiver calls out the next receiver.
  • The passer takes up the position that has become free in the circle.
  • In the second round the passer names the target of the receiver.

Variations:

  • The players make up names for themselves and call them out loud when passing. In the following rounds the made-up names of the team-mates are called.

Note: Drill idea by Eddie Plickat.

Tip

  • The players should pay attention to passing options and to the positions of the team-mates.
  • Ideally the player is addressed before the player on the ball passes.
  • The players should stand on the toes and skip lightly.
  • For firm passes, pull up the toes and place the standing leg in the target direction.
