Set up a goal and six cones as shown in the diagram. Starting position A is double-occupied. The balls are also there. The remaining cones are each occupied by one player.
Procedure
Player A starts the drill with a diagonal pass to Player B, who lays the ball off to Player C. C plays a diagonal pass to Player D, who in turn lays it off to E. Player E then plays the final pass with the inside of the foot around Player D into A's run. A takes the ball in stride and shoots on goal. Positions rotate clockwise. Once every player has shot and the starting position is reached, the drill is repeated in the counterclockwise direction.
Tip
- The respective receiver makes a short counter-movement as soon as the passer begins the backswing and then comes briefly toward the ball. - Passes should generally be played to the strong foot. - The first touch and carry should be a fluid motion. The ball bouncing too far away or a first touch deviating from the straight running path should be avoided. - Player B starts his sprint as soon as E begins the backswing. - Pay attention to proper body position when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the direction of the shot; arms swing along; the arm closest to the shooting leg follows the leg's backswing, the other arm moves forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - Different shooting techniques (inside-of-the-foot shot, instep shot, curling, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - 2 mini goal(s), 12 cones
