Passing in Two Squares II

  • Age U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

A large and small square are set up. Each cone is occupied by one player. Two players with a ball position themselves at the starting cone.

Procedure

Player A plays a vertical (deep) pass to B, who plays an opponent-beating give-and-go with H (past Player G). B then passes vertically to C, who plays a give-and-go with G, etc. Players A, B, C, and D move one cone station further after passing. Players E, F, G, and H have the same passing and running path sequence. They run toward the passer, redirect the ball past the cone player, and move back to the starting position. Always the same passing sequence as described in a cycle.

Tip

- The players should try to give the passer a verbal command (call for the ball). - The ball-expecting player starts his counter-movement simultaneously with the passer's backswing. - The wall passer must adjust his running speed to the pass speed. - Do not place the plant foot too far from the ball and make sure the players do not lean backward. - Pass timing and start timing are decisive. - Often the players run faster than they pass. - Demand pass sharpness and accuracy. - 8 cones
