Passing through Opponents III

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

10 cones make up a 34 x 40 meter field (width of the 18 yard box) with 4 zones (A-D). The 8 blue players are a team and the 8 red player make up one team. There are four player in each zone (see graphic) whereby each team only occupies two zones. (1) 20 meter (2) 6 meter

Procedure

The blue players in zone A try to pass the ball to their teammates in zone C (and vice-versa). The red players in zone B try to intercept the passes using clever awareness of space and movement. No player can leave his zone. If red intercepts the ball they then have to try and keep the ball and the blue players in zone C become defenders and must try to intercept the through balls. The groups of four in each zone should regularly change places. It is important to chenge from offense to defense as quickly as possible. The team with the ball should use the whole width of the field to make it as hard as possible for the defending team to intercept the ball.

Tip

10 cones, - Arriving passes or interceptins can be counted. - Exact passing should always be trainined in game-realistic situations. - Coach game overview/awareness. - Communication and encouragement. - The players should stay moving.
