Passing with Crosses and Finishing Variation III

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a cone square according to the diagram. Each cone is occupied by one player. Three additional players are positioned as follows: two players on the sides of the penalty area and one player on the side of the goal on the goal line. (1) Shot on goal (2) Crossing paths

Procedure

The exercise starts with a give-and-go between Player A and Player D. Player A passes the returned ball diagonally to Player C, who lets it bounce to Player D. While Player D now plays a diagonal pass to Player B, Player C sprints toward the right corner of the penalty area, where he receives the ball laid off by Player B and takes a shot on goal. Immediately following the shot, Player B also starts into the penalty area, crosses paths with the repositioning Player C, to then convert either: a) a cross from G b) a cross from E as well as c) a pass back from F. Afterward, all players rotate one station further.

Tip

- The ball-expecting player always takes a step back in a dynamic jumping motion and then takes a step toward the ball. - Play passes sharply, accurately, and low. - When letting the ball bounce, slightly raise the foot. - Correct start timing when crossing paths. - Crosses and return passes should be played sharply. - 4 cones
