The passing station is set up with 6 cones according to the diagram. All stations except Cone Station I are occupied by one player. A ball is at starting Cone III.
Procedure
Player E starts the exercise from Cone II with a preparatory movement and a short burst. Player D passes him the ball into his run, which he redirects with a direct pass to Player A. Player A immediately passes the ball to Player B waiting at Cone V and runs immediately afterward toward Cone III, passing Cone IV on the left. Once level with that cone, B plays him the ball into his run, which he now plays directly or after receiving it toward Cone I. Player D is already waiting there, having sprinted to Cone I after his opening pass to E. There he plays the ball directly into A's run, who controls the ball and takes Player D's position at Cone III. Player C takes A's position at Cone VI. Player D takes the position at Cone II, and E runs to Cone IV. B stays at Cone V but occasionally switches positions with another player. Afterward, this exercise begins again with the same passing and running paths.
Tip
First, practise the passing exercise slowly, then increase the passing tempo. The ball-expecting players always make a preparatory movement. A dynamic jump step sideways or backward, then moving toward the pass. The exercise is enormously running-intensive at fast execution speeds. - Under time pressure, a very demanding, game-like passing game is required. - The ball-expecting players call for the ball with a verbal cue. - Pass timing and start timing are decisive. - Often the players run faster than they pass or vice versa. - Do not forget the running path. - Demand pass sharpness and accuracy. - Accuracy before speed. - Concentration must be maintained. - The players need some time to memorise the exercise sequence. - Good ball security and combination play are the goals. - Anticipation, perception, reaction, movement and action speed with and without the ball are constantly demanded. - This passing and dribbling game demands a high level of football intelligence. - 6 cones
