Set up two mirror-image trapezoids according to the diagram. The starting positions are double/multi-occupied; the remaining positions have one player each. The players at the starting cone have a ball.
Procedure
Player A starts with a diagonal pass to Player C, who lets the ball bounce to B. Player B now plays a diagonal pass to D, who performs a speed dribble to the starting position. The players run to the next cone after their pass and take that position (clockwise). Parallel to this group, the other group performs the same exercise, starting with a diagonal pass from E to G, etc. The diagonal pass can be played as a low pass or as a lofted ball.
Tip
- The ball-expecting player always takes a step back in a dynamic jumping motion and then takes a step toward the ball. - Play passes sharply, accurately, and low. - When letting the ball bounce, slightly raise the foot. - If the diagonal pass is played as a lofted ball, make sure the receiving player can redirect it directly. This means an accurate, not too hard pass at maximum chest height is required. - Make sure the sequences in both groups run as synchronously as possible. - Communicate with each other. - 8 cones
