Passing with Running Paths Variation I

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Four cones are set up as specified. The starting cone with ball, like the other cones, is occupied by one player. (1) Position change

Procedure

The opening ball is played by Player A as a lofted ball to B. B redirects the ball directly to C. Player C passes the ball directly back to B, who plays a lofted ball to A. After every lofted ball, a position change takes place within the pair that played the lofted pass, executed at sprint speed.

Tip

First, practise the passing exercise slowly, then increase the passing tempo. The ball-expecting players always make a preparatory movement. A dynamic jump step sideways or backward, then moving toward the pass. - Demand pass sharpness and accuracy, but also emphasise a controlled, clean pass before the lofted ball so it can ideally be played directly. - The ball-expecting player must learn to accurately judge the ball's flight path and thus develop good positioning. - Accuracy before speed. - Concentration must be maintained. - The incoming lofted ball should be bounced with the inside of the foot. - The lofted ball can be played with the inside of the foot or as an inside of the foot kick. - 4 cones
