Passing with Shot on Goal Variation I

  • Age U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up five cones as shown. The starting cone with the ball is multiply occupied, with one player at each of the other cones + one goalkeeper in the goal.

Procedure

Player A opens to B, B lets the ball bounce into A's run and starts toward D. A passes to C, C lets it bounce to B, and C runs toward the goal. B plays to D, who passes into C's run. Player C shoots on goal. All players move one position/cone forward, except player D, who goes to the starting position. Alternative: - Player A plays the first pass directly to C, who plays to B, etc. - Player A plays a give-and-go with B and then immediately plays a through ball to D, who passes to C. - Player A plays the first pass directly as a through ball to D. D can choose whether to pass to C or shoot directly on goal.

Tip

A varying, fast passing game with shot on goal through the centre can develop. - Ball control and good combination play are the objectives. - Demand passing sharpness and accuracy. - Accuracy before speed. - Concentration must be maintained. - Constantly demand communication among players. - Anticipation, awareness, reaction, movement speed, and action speed with and without the ball are constantly demanded. - Practising automatic movements, short passing game, and varying combination play. - Scoring goals. - 5 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
