Play Pattern from Back Four with Overlapping on the Wing

Setup

  • 10 red cones
  • 2 yellow cones
  • 2 blue cones
  • 2 green cones
  • 1 goal

Procedure

The drill can start alternately on the right and left side.

Flow on the right:

  • Player 1 passes to 2 and initiates an overlap behind player 3
  • Player 3 moves to the yellow cone and receives the ball from 2
  • 3 plays a one-two with 4, who has moved to the blue cone
  • 4 passes to the outside back 1, who has overlapped and heads towards the right corner of the penalty area
  • Forwards 9 and 11 make runs towards the penalty area
  • 4' starts with a pass from 4 towards the penalty spot
  • 3' moves into the back space
  • Outside back 1 dribbles to the end line and crosses
  • The cross is finished

Tip

Coaching Points

  • All movements should be made with direct play and sprinting
  • 3 and 3' should use feints to get free
  • After several practice phases, remove the cones
