Playing on the Wing | Passing into the Striker

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players

Setup

• 12 cones (8 red cones, 4 yellow cones)

• On the Wing: Set up 7 meter wide dribbling goals (see red cones in graphic) and a passing goal (3m width) centrally just before the penalty box and on the halfway line

Procedure

The attacking team has unlimited touches but the big goal is deactivated at the start.

To activate shooting on the big goal, players of the attacking team have to either dribble through the red cones or pass the ball to a teammate through the yellow cones.

If the defending team wins the ball, they can themselves dribble through the red cones near the halfway line or play a pass into the yellow cone goal.

If this happens, the teams will switch roles.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• High intensity throughout the drill

• Players should be forced to circulate the ball and play on the wings. If this is done numerous times, spaces will appear in the center

• After shifting from side to side, find space in and behind the yellow passing goal and play an accurate pass to continue the attacking sequence
