Playing to the Far-side Forwards

  • Age U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players

Setup

  • Cones to mark positions
  • 1 goal

Procedure

The ball starts with player 6 (or 8 on the other side).

Player 6 dribbles around his cone and passes the ball to player No. 7 on the outside. This player takes the ball forward.

Meanwhile, player No. 9 moves towards the penalty area to engage the defenders and create space for player No. 10.

Player No. 7 delivers a sharp pass through the gap to player No. 10, who can either break away from the defenders to shoot or make a pass to player No. 9.

Tip

Coaching Points

  • Option 1: Player 10 can open a dribbling path into depth with a shooting or body feint before the first contact.
  • Option 1&2: The ball-near forward, player 9, makes a run into depth just before the pass from 7 to 10, engaging the ball-near central defender and preventing them from intercepting the pass.
