Positional play with wall players

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

  • Set up 8 cones in a square or rectangle.
  • 3-4 players per team act in the field.
  • Distribute 4 players per team on the sides.

Procedure

The side players are not allowed to enter the square and can only move between their two adjacent cones. The side players have only one touch (wall players). The players in the middle try to keep the ball within their ranks. If the ball is played outwards, the inner players immediately try to offer passing options (form a triangle). A point is awarded to each team for a set number of consecutive passes.

Variation: The side player plays or dribbles the ball into the field. His passing player then smoothly takes up the side position.

Tip

  • Always demand and reward switching sides.
  • Due to the constant ball exchanges and associated changes in direction, the inner players are constantly in motion.
