Precision Passing I

  • Age U6 - U13
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

A mini goal is set up and a cone is placed a few metres away to mark the starting point for the player. The distance from the cone to the goal can be increased/decreased depending on the desired difficulty level.

Procedure

The player stands at the starting cone and plays a low or half-high pass into the small goal. If the player finds it easy to pass the ball into the goal, the distance between the cone and the goal can be increased. Depending on ability, the player should alternate between passing with the right and left foot. There are various ways to play a pass: - with the inside of the foot - the instep - the outside of the foot - with the inside of the foot kick

Tip

This exercise can also be performed as a competition between two players. The players alternate passing into the goal. Whoever scores the most hits after a set number of attempts wins. Other important points: - The plant foot should be placed 30 - 40 cm to the side of or level with the ball. - For the inside of the foot pass, the toe points upward, the ankle is firmly tensed, and the upper body leans slightly forward over the ball. - Stand on the balls of the feet, slightly raise the kicking foot, and strike the ball in the centre. Bring the body over the ball and do not lean backward (receiving the ball follows the same principle). - After striking the ball, follow through with the leg. - Pay attention to the arms! When passing with the right inside of the foot, the left arm goes to the right hip; when using the left inside of the foot, the right arm goes to the left hip! - For the instep pass, the ankle is extended, toes point to the ground, and the upper body leans slightly over the ball. - When playing the ball with the outside of the foot, the player can easily lean backward. - For the inside of the foot kick, the player moves laterally offset to the ball and the body goes into a tilted position. - 1 mini goal(s), 1 cone
