Progressive Passing with Combinations I

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Three cones are placed in a line one behind the other. A player stands at each cone at a distance of 5-8 metres.

Procedure

Passing takes place between the respective players. First, a low pass is played from A to B. B moves toward the pass and lets it bounce back to Player A. Player A then plays a long pass to C. C passes to B, B lets it bounce back to C, and Player C then plays a long pass to Player A. This pattern can be continued as many times as desired.

Tip

Precise passing is of enormous importance for successful football. Therefore, passing must be practised again and again. It should not be forgotten that incorrect execution must be corrected and the proper technique demonstrated. - This exercise requires high precision and passing accuracy. - The middle player is subjected to high physical stress over time. Therefore, the middle player should be rotated every 60 seconds. Other important points: - The plant foot should be placed 30 - 40 cm to the side of or level with the ball. - For the inside of the foot pass, the toe points upward, the ankle is firmly tensed, and the upper body leans slightly forward over the ball. - Stand on the balls of the feet, slightly raise the kicking foot, and strike the ball in the centre. Bring the body over the ball and do not lean backward (receiving the ball follows the same principle). - After striking the ball, follow through with the leg. - Pay attention to the arms! When passing with the right inside of the foot, the left arm goes to the right hip; when using the left inside of the foot, the right arm goes to the left hip! - For the instep pass, the ankle is extended, toes point to the ground, and the upper body leans slightly over the ball. - When playing the ball with the outside of the foot, the player can easily lean backward. - For the inside of the foot kick, the player moves laterally offset to the ball and the body goes into a tilted position. - 3 cones
