Reaction and Speed

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point, End
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

• 2 mini-goals

• 4 red cones

• 8-10 yellow cones

Split players into 2 equal groups.

Procedure

Two players start at the red cones (see graphic) and run towards the line consisting of five yellow cones.

Player 1 tries to be quicker at the ball to the left or right of the center and finishes onto the mini-goal.

Before, player 1 has to, depending on the instructions of his coach, quickly change directions once or twice.

Player 2, on the other side of the yellow cones, has to try and copy the movements of player 1 and beat him to the ball as well.

Variation:

Same setting as in the drill explained before, but now player 1 has to touch the single cones in an order.

Player 2 has to try and copy this again.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• The "attacking" player should fake the player on the other side with his fast movements
