Receiving with Inside - Letting the Ball Run Through the Legs
Training SetProgression, Main point
Procedure
The player runs toward the coach's pass and redirects the ball with the right inside through the legs behind the left standing leg to the back or side. He then turns and chases the ball to start a dribble. This sequence should be one fluid movement.
Tip
Technique and body position: - Receiving and continuing the ball behind the standing leg through the legs. This receiving technique combines receiving with an immediate change of direction to the side. - This technique uses the inside of the foot. It is done with one ball touch and is one fluid movement. The foot moves toward the incoming ball. Just before contact, the foot is pulled back (slightly slower than the ball speed). The ball can then be received gently and simultaneously guided with the inside or redirected to the side. - The upper body is upright and the legs are bent. - Depending on pass and touch accuracy, the player makes a turn between 90 and 180 degrees. - The ball redirection must not be too firm.
