Ring Jumps + Shot on Goal

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Set up a ring course as shown in the diagram. The goalkeeper stands on the goal line; the goalkeeper coach (GC) with the balls is at the edge of the penalty area.

Procedure

The goalkeeper jumps through the rings in a slalom/skier jump without touching them. Immediately after passing the last ring, the goalkeeper coach shoots a low ball 1-2 m to the left or right of the goalkeeper, which he must catch. Alternative: The goalkeeper jumps through the rings with feet together; then the goalkeeper coach takes a volley or a bouncing shot.

Tip

- Quick and clean technique through the hurdles. - Laterally offset jumps (skier jump/movement): With the upper body slightly leaned forward, the player alternately jumps sideways forward with the right and left leg (with the right leg to the front right and with the left to the front left). It is important that takeoff and landing are on the balls of the feet. The arms swing along supportively. When the standing foot lands after takeoff, the other leg is bent (no ground contact). The gaze is directed straight ahead. - As soon as the goalkeeper passes the last cone, the coach's shot comes. - Just before the GC makes contact with the ball, the goalkeeper makes a small two-footed hop or a short step forward, spreads his arms to the sides, slightly bends his knees, and stands on the balls of his feet. His feet point toward the coach and are about hip-width apart, the upper body leans slightly forward, and the eyes are fixed on the ball. - The body must always be brought behind the ball during the save. - During the save, the goalkeeper must never fall backward, but always forward. - 6 ring(s), 1 full-size goal(s)
