Tip
Ball caress with inside sole/inside technique: - The player guides the ball to the side of his body. He moves the ball with the right foot to the left and with the left foot to the right. A slight scooping motion of the leg precedes the ball contact. - First contact with the ball is with the inside, rolling to the inner sole. The foot is then pulled sideways over the ball as it "travels" across the entire width of the sole. The lateral movement causes the legs to cross. - When guiding the ball with the right foot, the right leg is to the left of the left (standing) leg. This automatically creates a slight rotation at the hip (the left shoulder turns to the right). - "Caressing" the ball means applying only light pressure when guiding it. - Keep the legs bent. - Move on the balls of the feet. - Short ground contact time. - The upper body is slightly leaning forward. - Do not lean backward. - The arms are carried at the sides of the body in the normal running/walking arm motion. Stepover technique: - The stepover is a body feint, meaning the upper body must move to the opposite side (to the right) while the ball goes left. - The aim is to deceive the opponent with the upper body and influence them enough to follow the movement. This gives the ball carrier a time advantage. - The upper body is slightly leaning forward. - The player should move on the balls of the feet during execution. - At the start of the movement, do not make a large, time-consuming jump, but rather a short, quick movement with the upper body and leg over the ball to the right. - Do not keep the head down looking at the ball only; alternate looking down and up. - After the feint, the first touch must be slightly offset to the side (to the left) with the outside of the foot. This should be done as a short, quick burst. Outside-of-the-foot technique: - The foot is tilted slightly outward and locked downward. - The ball is touched with the front outside and slightly the instep (maximum the outer three toes). The toes are pressed slightly downward. - The ball gets a slight spin. - Alternating upper body position between upright and leaning forward. - When receiving with the outside, the upper body is slightly rotated inward. The foot is also (slightly) rotated inward. The ankle is locked open.
