Running Combinations with Short Sprint

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Set up a course as shown in the diagram. The players line up in pairs one behind the other at the starting cone.

Procedure

Two players start simultaneously on the coach's command. First, a "skier jump" through the rings, followed by a sprint to the small cone. Then lateral quick feet over the six poles. Now the players must cut to the side and do side shuffles through the two laterally offset poles. Finally, the players cross the last two poles with quick feet and sprint to the cone. Everything is done at maximum speed. The next two players can start as soon as the previous pair has passed the rings.

Tip

- The spacing between the poles should vary. - Short, fast movements on the balls of the feet (not on the whole foot). The heels must not touch the ground; legs/arms are bent and swing according to the natural running counter-movement (right arm/left foot). The upper body leans forward. Short ground contact time, maximum speed. - Side shuffles forward/backward: In a lateral running direction, the legs are alternately moved apart and together in parallel; the arms swing in sync with the leg movement. - 6 ring(s), 4 cones, 12 hurdle(s)
