A goal is set up on the end line of the field with a goalkeeper inside. 10 field players are positioned on the field as shown in the diagram. The ball is with the left fullback.
Player A plays a diagonal pass to forward C. C lays the ball off into the running path of midfielder B. Midfielder B opens up the passing lane to the central striker with his run (check-away movement). The fullback plays a flat pass to the central striker (player C), who plays the ball into the depth for his attacking midfielder (player B). The action is played out so that the striker as well as the other players push forward at maximum speed. Variation 1: Same sequence as variation 1. Only this time the ball is played high to the striker, who heads the ball on.
- Make sure the practised movement patterns lead to a quick, fluid overall sequence. - The eyes should regularly be lifted from the ball (alternating between looking at the ball and looking ahead). - The player expecting the pass makes a short check-away run at the same time the passer begins the passing motion. - The pass should be played into the running path of the player waiting for the ball. - The passer must observe the running path of the player expecting the ball. - 1 full-size goal(s)
