Shooting Competition Goalkeeper vs. Field Players

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal and two cones at the same height, between which the players line up side by side. Each player has a ball.

Procedure

Each player gets one shot; the player on the far left begins. The players then shoot alternately on goal. Option: If the shooters successfully score more than half of their attempts, they win and the goalkeeper must do 10 push-ups. If they convert less than 50% of their shots, the players must do 10 push-ups.

Tip

- Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - Always have shooting drills performed with both feet. - Different shooting techniques (inside-of-the-foot shot, instep shot, curling, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
