Shooting Competition on Three Side-by-Side Goals

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

Set up three goals side by side. A goalkeeper stands in each goal. 14-20 m in front of the goals, the players line up in three rows, each with a ball.

Procedure

Three players always shoot simultaneously. Each player shoots at one goal. The goalkeepers must save the shots on their goal. Options: a) Goalkeeper-internal competition. Who concedes the fewest goals. Or competition goalkeepers vs. shooters. b) After each round, the goalkeepers must switch goals (clockwise or counterclockwise). The coach gives the shooters the signal when they may shoot again.

Tip

- Just before the shooter makes contact with the ball, the goalkeeper makes a small two-footed hop or a short step forward, spreads his arms to the sides, slightly bends his knees, and stands on the balls of his feet. His feet point toward the shooter and are about hip-width apart, the upper body leans slightly forward, and the eyes are fixed on the ball. - The body must always be brought behind the ball during the save. - During the save, the goalkeeper must never fall backward, but always forward. - For a lateral dive, the goalkeeper jumps with a swing step to the side or forward. To the right by generating momentum through the right foot and pushing off laterally over the balls of the feet. To the left by generating momentum through the left foot. - The goalkeeper tries to hold onto the balls. If this is not possible, he should parry the balls to the side. - Option b) The goalkeepers must sprint to the next goal immediately after saving a shot, since they do not know when the coach will allow the next shot. - 2 small-sided goal(s), 1 full-size goal(s)
