Short Passing, Dribbling, and Shooting Drill

Setup

  • 5 cones
  • 6 flat hurdles
  • Marking cones
  • One ball per round

Procedure

  • Player Red sidesteps over hurdles with 2 touches per section, receives a short pass at (2), and immediately returns it (3).
  • Red repeats the hurdle sidestep, receives another short pass from Yellow (5), and returns it (6).
  • Yellow then passes a lead ball to Red (7), who dribbles through the cone course with various techniques (9).
  • At the course's end, Red plays a lofted ball to Player Blue (10), who controls it, dribbles shortly, and shoots at goal.

Position Rotation: Yellow -> Red -> Blue -> Yellow

Tip

  • Variation at (10): Player Blue lets the ball bounce off them to the approaching Player Red, who then gives Blue a lead pass for a shot at goal.
  • Ensure execution is ambidextrous: short passing, dribbling, and shooting.
