Shot After Passing Combination with Follow-Up Action

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

Set up a goal, three poles, and three starting cones as shown in the diagram. The players distribute themselves evenly at the starting cones. The balls are with Group A as well as with the coach and the second goalkeeper standing beside the goal.

Procedure

Player A plays a pass to Player B, who passes the ball back toward the goal line for Player A. Immediately after passing, Players B and C start toward the goal and cross paths at the moment Player A reaches the ball played by B and crosses it into the 18-yard box. B and C finish the action with a shot on goal. Player C must then finish a second ball from the coach or the second goalkeeper. After each round, positions are switched.

Tip

- The opening pass from A should be played to B's strong foot. - B must time his pass so that A reaches it just before the goal line and can cross it directly into the 18-yard box. - B and C start immediately after B has passed the ball to Player A. - Cross at the moment A begins the backswing for the cross. - The type of finish depends on the type of delivery (flat pass, half-high/high cross). In any case, a first-time finish should be attempted. - When shooting on goal, pay attention to the following body position: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the direction of the shot; arms swing along; the arm closest to the shooting leg follows the leg's backswing, the other arm moves forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - 3 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
