Shot on Goal After Back Pass

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal and two starting cones as shown. The players distribute evenly at the cones. The players of group A have the balls.

Procedure

The red player A plays a long diagonal ball into the blue player B's run. Player B starts running at the moment of player A's backswing and passes/crosses the ball back into the red player's run. The red player then finishes with a first-time shot on goal. Then the players switch groups.

Tip

- The diagonal opening ball should be played fast and flat into the run. For this, the ball must be played via inside-instep shot (half inside of the foot, half instep; ankle is extended). - The subsequent cross should ideally be played first-time from the run, but can also follow after prior ball reception and control. - After playing the opening ball, player A immediately moves to a central position, slightly offset toward the far post, at the height of the penalty area. - Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - For the volley shot, the upper body should be slightly bent forward and the ball struck at a low point (not too high). This gives the ball more power and greater accuracy. - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
