Shot on Goal After Give-and-Go Through the Third Player

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal, two starting cones where the players line up, and a cone where the wall passer positions. The balls are with the players at group A's starting cone.

Procedure

Player A passes the ball to the wall passer. He passes the ball flat (later half-high or high) back into player A's running path. Player A then passes the ball directly into the running path of player B, who controls the ball and finishes the action with a shot on goal. Afterward, A becomes the wall passer, the wall passer lines up at group B, and the player from group B goes to group A.

Tip

- The wall passer makes a short counter-movement as soon as the starting player goes into the backswing and then comes briefly toward the ball. - Player B starts in parallel with player A's backswing, before A plays the pass into B's run. - The ball reception and control should be a fluid movement. Excessive bouncing of the ball or reception deviating from a straight running path should be avoided. - Different shooting techniques (inside-of-the-foot shot, instep shot, curling, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
